6 Maryland Resolutions to Make in 2022

2021 is nearly finished, and a new year is waiting for us. It's at this time that we traditionally start thinking about our New Year's resolutions! But what if we focused on making resolutions that benefited ourselves as well as the entire state? Consider these six Maryland resolutions that are sure to fulfill you in 2022!

1. Get Out Into Your Community

Whether you live in the city or the country, the mountains or the shore, there are ways to help make Maryland a better place to live! The state's food banks, animal shelters, libraries, and organizations for children would love to have someone just like you helping out. When everyone does their part, Maryland's an even better place to live.

2. Learn About The Candidates (And Vote!)

Being an informed and active citizen means more than just voting in the presidential election. 2022 is an election year here in Maryland, and if you're not familiar with the candidates yet, now's the time to learn more about who's running. Your vote matters, especially right here in your own backyard -- you can learn more about registering if you haven't done so yet here

3. Take Care of the Local Environment

Maryland is full of natural beauty and resources, but we shouldn't take those things for granted. If you want Maryland to stay as beautiful as it is, you should take the initiative to protect its forests, rivers, and the Chesapeake Bay! Get involved with your local environmental group or with Mr. Trash Wheel and find out how to make Maryland even healthier this year.

4. Visit Maryland's State Parks

Did you know there are 53 State Parks here in Maryland? Every part of the state is rich with parks -- they're places where you can swim, fish, canoe, hike, camp, and much more. From the ponies of Assateague to the fossils of Calvert Cliffs, amazing things await you, so why not visit one (or a few) this year?

5. Explore Maryland's Hidden Treasures

Did you know Maryland has a dentistry museum, abandoned hospitals, a mermaid museum, and a diner full of colorful characters? Maryland is full of strange, unusual, and interesting places, and all you need to do is look around to find out more about our small state's huge history! This year, learn more about what Maryland has to offer beyond the beach and the football stadium.

6. Shop Local

This year, it's so important to show local retailers, restaurateurs, and craftspeople how much you value what they do! No matter what you're shopping for, we bet there's some incredibly talented Marylander who can provide it. You can start right here on our site -- we've partnered with so many cool Maryland businesses who deserve your attention in 2022 and beyond!
