Who says you need to be in a romantic relationship to enjoy sharing the love in February? We're talking about Galentine's Day, a new-ish invention in which ladies show their appreciation for their gal pals (thanks, Parks and Rec!). Of course, you can show your love for your ladies at any time, but we like to make the most of Galentine's, so here are a few unique ideas.
1. Paint pottery
Paint-your-own pottery spots have been popular for a while, but you can add a Galentine's twist! Paint bowls, plates, or tchotchkes in pinks, reds, and whites, or let everyone draw names and paint something to give to one another.
2. Enjoy some art
There are plenty of free or inexpensive museums here in Maryland to visit. You and your gals can dress up in your finest and browse the paintings and sculptures together! See if you and your gals can find a painting that matches your outfit's color schemes or a subject who looks like one of you.
3. Have a themed party
These are popular on Tiktok, so why not hop on the trend yourself! Get all of your girls to dress up according to a theme, like 'your first fictional character crush' or 'your favorite female superhero'. Bring snacks, watch movies, and be sure to take plenty of pics.
4. Hit the road
A local road trip could be just what you and your girls need! Maryland has so much to offer that you may not need to go far. Seek out weird local history, thrift shops full of strange treasures, boutiques with cute clothes, or wineries with that perfect blend. There's no limit to what you could find.
5. Bake up a storm
Cookies, cakes, brownies....or maybe something savory? You and your ladies can make something great (or something funny, at the very least) this year. Get creative with sprinkles and enjoy all the sugar you want.
6. Get cheesy
Come on, there's nothing wrong with being sentimental once a year! Write your ladies some heartfelt cards (homemade for that extra sweet touch) or make a presentation about why your girls are so important to you. Don't be afraid to get mushy!
