7 Maryland Christmas Tree Farms To Check Out This Season

You're probably thinking a lot about the Christmas gifts that you're going to buy for friends and family (and we've got you covered when it comes to those!), but what are presents without a tree to put them under? Sure, you could buy a plastic tree, but there's nothing quite as magical as a real Christmas tree that you chose yourself. And Maryland is a great place to find them! There are so many Christmas tree farms here in MD -- here are just a few.

Remember, before you head to any of these farms, be sure to check out their websites or give them a call to see if they're open or what kind of stock they have. As of the time this blog is published, all of these farms are still open for the season and have stock!

Blue Heron Tree Farm, Centreville

Douglas and white pines are here for the picking! You can borrow the saws and wagons you need to get those beauties out of the ground and to your car. This location is open on the weekends, making it a perfect family or date activity.

Naughty Pine Nursery, Dickerson

This farm near the Potomac River is perfect for anyone who wants to choose a blue spruce or Douglas fir. You can even grab some perfectly split firewood while you're there! Pick up Christmas trees until December 19.

Butler's Orchard, Germantown

Looking for not just a tree but also a custom wreath? Butler's is the place to be. You'll need a reservation, so be sure to head to the website to make one. Want a photo with Santa, too? He'll be at the farm on the 12th and 19th for photos!

Sewell's Farm, Taneytown

Last minute buyers can pick up a tree as late as December 22 this year! Choose from white pines, Fraser firs, and Canaan firs, among others -- the website offers a detailed guide to each variety. You can also pick up plenty of other Christmas decor here.

Dreamland Christmas Tree Farm, Middletown

Yes, this place really is like a dream! While cut-your-own trees are sold out for the season, there are still many pre-cuts available for your shopping pleasure. You can also enjoy a cup of cocoa at the cafe or buy ornaments and wreaths while you're at it. Open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Gaver Farm, Mt. Airy

60 acres of trees await you here at Gaver Farm! Borrow a saw and load up your car with a gorgeous blue spruce or white pine. There are also plenty of beautiful wreaths and garlands available here for you, and you can enjoy apple cider donuts and more at the cafe over the weekends.

Mountains Edge Tree Farm, Smithsburg

Looking for silver firs and Norway spruces? You'll find a variety of Christmas trees at this Western Maryland destination. Employees will help you cut and haul your tree to your car, on the house. You can even get tree stands that will help keep your beautiful new tree standing!
