The coasters are probably not very absorbent because they are acrylic. But, they are cute. My only disappointment was that I thought I was getting a set of 4 lifeguard stands, not a variety pack. I purchased as a gift based on the color, now probably cannot use them as a gift as they won't match my friend's decor. .
