Breaking News: A Mega-Maryland Merger With Our Friends Up North!
Maryland is about to get a whole new flavor, thanks to a merger between our beloved state and some Marylanders up north -- New Marylanders, that is!
Back in the day -- 1817, to be precise -- a Maryland man left the USA and headed up to Canada to establish a new settlement, but his nostalgia for the Old Line State meant that it would be known as New Maryland. More than 200 years later, the fine folks of New Maryland have decided they want in on all of the state pride we have down south!
"We're so excited to announce that we're merging with the state of Maryland to create a Mega Maryland," says May Peelleaf, a representative from New Maryland's government. "After all, if any state deserves to cross international borders, it's Maryland."
A new flag has been commissioned to honor this historic occasion.
"The Maryland flag was already so iconic," says Peelleaf. "But this one will be even better."
Effective immediately, the new flag will replace the previous flags of both the state of Maryland and the city of New Maryland.
"This is really cool," said the ghost of Lord Baltimore, who was contacted via Ouija board to give a comment on the change. "I'm fully on board."
Another benefit of this merger? Our Canadian friends will be getting free imports of blue crab and Natty Boh. But don't think that we're not getting anything out of the deal -- expect a few new Canadian touches to come to our land in exchange.
Maple syrup will now be available free to any Maryland citizen. Syrup stations are currently being constructed in Baltimore, Ellicott City, Frederick, Ocean City, and Rockville.
