Happy Febrewary, Marylanders! Every year, we take time to celebrate the beers and the brewers who make Maryland a special place to drink. We're lucky -- we've got no shortage of breweries to visit all over the state. Why not head to one of these five this month and sample a new brew for yourself?
Who says you need to go all the way to Ireland to have a Guinness experience? The beloved brewer has set up shop on the shores of America -- in Halethorpe, to be exact. You can take the tour, sample classic flavors, and savor uniquely American sips like the Over the Moon milk stout. Check out the list of events to see what's coming up!
One of the biggest challenges of visiting a new brewery is knowing which beer to try -- what if you want to try them all? BC Brewery in Hunt Valley has solved this problem by allowing you to buy beer in any amount you like, from a tasting size to a full pint, with their unique self-serve tap system. Sample everything from lagers to sours, and don't forget to place an order in the kitchen! They've got tacos, burgers, and much more.
This no-holds-barred brewery has been creating bold beers in Maryland since 2006, and they're known for using artwork made by Hunter S. Thompson's illustrator, Ralph Steadman. Of course, these beers aren't just for show -- they taste good, too. You can even grab one (or two) before you leave the state on a flight, since there's a Flying Dog Tap House in Terminal A at BWI airport.
Before you head down to the beach, why not stop in Berlin and get a taste of what Burley Oak Brewing has to offer? This brewing company makes a wide variety of strange and fun offerings -- think hard iced tea seltzer, pilsner with lime, and marshmallow-fruit sours. Of course, you can get a classic IPA or porter while you're there, too!
If you're an IPA fan here in Maryland, you've come to the right place! This Halethorpe-based brewery is perfect for anyone who wants to sip a tried-and-true local favorite or discover a new one. Head to the taproom to enjoy drinks like the Double Cannon double IPA or the Powder Monkey pale ale. Enjoy some food from the Kooper's Chowhound Burger Wagon while you're there!
