20 Maryland-Themed Halloween Costumes To Wear This Year

Halloween is getting ever nearer, Marylanders! And there's nothing wrong with getting an invite to a Halloween party when you don't know what you're going to wear. Well, we've got a few Maryland-themed ideas! These locally-specific costumes are sure to get some laughs or cheers from your Maryland buds -- some are obvious, some are more niche, but all of them are filled with Maryland pride. Be sure to tag us on social media if you decide to try any of these!

  1. Mr. Boh: Paint over one eye, grab a beer, and boom! You're the classic mascot man himself.
  2. The Utz girl: A bob wig and a bag of chips makes this outfit as easy as it is fun -- and you get to enjoy a salty snack all night!
  3. An Orioles baseball player: This one's as simple as you want to be. You can put on your favorite jersey, a hat, and maybe some white pants if you're feeling fancy. You can even add some bubble gum!
  4. The Oriole bird mascot: Feeling more like cheering than playing ball? Repurpose a feather boa and some orange construction paper, and you'll be the best bird in baseball.
  5. John Waters: Just pencil on a thin mustache with eyeliner and put on a snappy blazer. Don't forget to practice some witty remarks!
  6. Divine: Maryland's favorite drag queen makes a head-turning costume! Paint your eyebrows high and bold, put on your reddest lipstick, and don't be afraid to get filthy.
  7. An Ocean City tourist: Use blush for a fake sunburn, throw on shades and your most obnoxious Boardwalk tee shirt
  8. Edgar Allan Poe: A fake mustache and some careful combing will make you look like the haunted author. Add a stuffed raven to your shoulder for extra pizzaz.
  9. A Baltimore Hon: Pile your hair as high as it'll go (or grab a wig) and put on a vintage dress and big glasses for that Hampden hon feel.
  10. A crab: Go simple with a red outfit, add some googly eyes to a headband, and pull on some plastic pinchers.
  11. A sexy crab: Who says crabs can't be hot? This costume is sure to get a laugh -- repurpose a devil costume and add the pinchers for a Maryland twist.
  12. Fifi the AVAM poodle: Pink tulle, googly eyes, and fluffy ears are all it'll take!
  13. A Ravens player: Throw on shoulder pads (or make your own), then layer on your favorite jersey. Add eyeliner stripes for eye black.
  14. A terrapin: Yes, we mean the animal! A plastic or paper shell will be great for hiding candy inside of, and a turtleneck will help complete the look.
  15. A dragon boat: Love colorful costumes? Show off your Inner Harbor pride by creating a fanciful dragon mask that will remind people of the boat rides of their childhoods.
  16. An aquarium critter: This one's great for a group! Dress as a school of fish or a flock of rainforest birds. You can even all get sloth onesies to hang around in!
  17. A Baltimore rat: A pair of round ears and a pink tail will make you the cutest rat the city's ever seen.
  18. An Appalachian Trail hiker: Put on your hiking boots and fill your backpack with candy!
  19. An OC seagull: White feathers added to a white hoodie and yellow rain boots can give you that seagull look! For added authenticity, you can try grabbing snacks out of people's hands.
  20. A can of Old Bay: Paint a cardboard box to look like the tin of delicious spicy stuff, then hook it around your body with cords like a pair of overalls. Add red and orange sparkles to your body for extra spice!
